Obituary of Charles M. Welden
TOWN OF DANUBE - Charles M. Welden, 71 of 2105 River Road, Little Falls passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, May 9, 2012.
He was born on February 19, 1941 in Little Falls the son of the late Ralph M. and Louise I. (Ryder) Welden. He was a graduate and valedictorian of the St. Johnsville High School Class of 1959. He was also a graduate of Union College, Schenectady and Brown University, Rhode Island where he received his Masters Degree in Geology.
Mr. Welden was a science teacher for the Greenville Central School District in Greene County, NY for 28 years.
He was a member of St. Johns Reformed Church, St. Johnsville where he served treasurer and as a member of the church management team. He served as the Town of Danube, NY Tax Assessor from 1986-1997. He is currently serving the Town of Danube as Supervisor after being elected to that position in 1998. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Margaret Reaney Memorial Library, St. Johnsville and an active member of the Indian Castle Church Restoration Society.
He is survived by his brother and sister in law Ralph D. and Linda Welden, Little Falls, his niece Stacey Miller, Little Falls and nephew Christopher Welden, Little Falls. He is also survived by three great nephews, Travis Miller, Lusas Miller, and Andrew Welden. Also, his aunt Nancy Carole Cunningham, PA and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 10:00 am from St. Johns Reformed Church, 68 W. Main Street, St. Johnsville, NY with the Rev. Nancy Ryan and the Rev. David Plank, officiating. Interment will take place in the Ostrander Cemetery, Town of Danube.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls on Sunday, May 13, 2012 from 3-6 pm and to attend the funeral services Monday morning.
