Obituary of Allan L. Rice

SHERBURNE FALLS, MA Allan L. Rice, 47 of Sherburne Falls, MA passed away unexpectedly Thursday, January 10, 2008 at his residence. He was born on August 22, 1960 in Little Falls the son of Jean C. (Pettengill) Rice, of Little Falls and the late Gerald A. Rice. He was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School Class of 1979. Upon his graduation he enlisted in the US Navy, entering the service on June 27, 1979. He served in the Sea Bees, where he was stationed in Diego Garcia, Okinawa, Midway Island and the Bahamas. He was honorably discharged on June 26, 1984. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, Little Falls, as well as a former member of Troop 13, Boy Scouts of America, Little Falls. Mr. Rice was employed as a certified home health care provider in Shelburne Falls. He also operated Labs R Us, Dog Kennel, where he and his fiancé© Susan bred and raised AKC registered Labrador Retrievers often used as therapy dogs. He is survived by his mother Jean C. Rice, Little Falls, his fiancé© Susan St. Jean, Shelburne Falls, MA, 3 daughters Carol J. Rice,, Katie L. Rice and Elizabeth A. Rice, all of Rochester, NH, 3 brothers Timothy B. Rice and his wife Elaine, Niskayuna, NY, Mark S. Rice and his wife Cathy, St. Johnsville and Carl G. Rice and his wife Michelle, Amsterdam, a granddaughter Sophia Rice and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at 10:00 am at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, E. Gansevoort St., Little Falls, with the Rev. Carl Evans, Pastor officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills in the spring. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours. The family will be receiving relatives and friends at the home of Allans mother Jean Rice, 2895 State Route 5S, Little Falls following the memorial services. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
