Obituary of Betty Lou Montana
OPPENHEIM Betty Lou Montana, 82 of 6715 State Highway 29, St. Johnsville was called home to the Lord on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at Albany Medical Center where she had been a patient since January 26, 2008.
She was born on October 5, 1925 in the Town of Oppenheim the daughter of the late Chauncey and Edna (Clemons) Young. She was a graduate of Dolgeville High School class of 1943.
She was united in marriage to her husband of 57 years Clayton Montana on July 2, 1943 at the home of the brides parents in Oppenheim. Mr. Montana predeceased her on March 4, 2000.
Mrs. Montana was member of the Grace Baptist Church, Dolgeville.
She was employed at different times in the offices of the former Little Falls Felt Shoe Co., the Palatine Dye Co., Johnstown High School Library she was last employed in that same capacity for the former Gates Mills Co., Gloversville. For many years Mrs. Montana also provided child care for many young families in the Oppenheim area. She had also served as the Town of Oppenheim Tax Collector for over 40 years.
She is survived by 4 sons Rodney C. Montana and his wife Kathleen, Oppenheim, Gerald C. Montana and his wife Lola, Oppenheim, Wayne N. Montana and his wife Linda, Oppenheim and Timothy R. Montana, Ilion, 3 daughters Terry L. Blanchard, Oppenheim, Cynthia (Suzanne) Brooks, Gloversville and Beverly E. Bramer and her husband John, Jr., Canajoharie, a brother Leonard Young and his wife Dorothy, Oppenheim, a sister Janet Fitzpatrick and her husband Leo, St. Johnsville, her aunt Frances Cool, Lassellsville, 2 sisters in law Cecilia Young, N. Carolina and June Young, Dolgeville, 25 grandchildren, several great and great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 brothers Grant D. Young in 2006 and G. Arthur Young in 1985 and by 3 grandchildren Wayne and Linda Montana, son Seth Montana in 1971, Suzanne Brooks, children Clayton Rodney in 1990 and Angela Gabryzewski in 1991.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at 11:00 am from the Grace Baptist Church, 12 Van Buren St., Dolgeville with the Rev. Lenny Byerly, Pastor officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery in the spring.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Wednesday morning.
It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Montana be considered to the Grace Baptist Church, 12 Van Buren St., Dolgeville, NY 13329, Faith Bible Academy 106 Crosby Rd., Sprakers, NY 12166 or to the Oppenheim Vol. Fire Dept., State Highway 29, St. Johnsville, NY 13452.
