Obituary of Beverly C. Santry-James

LEBANON, PA Beverly C. Santry-James, 84 passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at her home in Lebanon, PA after a long and courageous bout with cancer. She was born on November 16, 1923 in Little Falls the daughter of the late Charles M. and Helen (Burns) Clarke. Beverly was united in marriage to the late Attorney Joseph A. Santry on December 30, 1950 at St. Marys Church, Little Falls they enjoyed a union of 41 years together, until his passing on May 31, 1991. On April 12, 1997 she was united in marriage to Robert F. James at the Holy Family Parish Church, Little Falls and thence relocated to Lebanon, PA where they spent the remainder of their years joyously sharing their lives together. As a graduate of St. Marys Academy in Little Falls Beverly pursued the discipline of the performing arts as well as the field of business, starting off in New York City where she studied drama at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and business at the New York Business Academy followed by Keuka College. Although Beverly had worked for various businesses in both New York as well as in the Mohawk Valley such as Remington Rand and Niagara Mohawk she spent the majority of career working side by side her with husband Attorney Joseph A. Santry in his law offices in Little Falls. Understanding the importance of civic duty, Beverly dedicated a substantial portion of her time to the service of others. Beverly was a past member of the following groups, past president of the St. Marys Rosary Society, past vice president of the Board of Trustees of Little Falls Hospital, the Herkimer County Community College Scholarship Committee, Meals on Wheels, a den mother for scouting, Little Falls Historical Society and St. Marys Parish Council. Beverlys love and devotion to her family was always first and foremost in her life. She shared her love by both word and deed daily and was always there to provide her complete love and support, always putting others first. Some of the interest and talents that Beverly shared with her family and friends included her passion for cooking gourmet meals, playing bridge with her family and many different bridge clubs, acting and most especially a love of reading. Beverly is survived by her husband Robert, Lebanon, PA, her son Gregory A. Santry and his wife Anne, Little Falls, her daughter Mary Ellen Hinkle and her husband Gregory, Bellevue, WA, her granddaughter Carly Baroh, Bellevue, WA, 2 step daughters Barbara Boltz, Cornwall, PA and Beverly Burkhart and her husband Scott, Manheim, PA, her sister Keith Anne Bornhurst and her husband Dr. Robert Bornhurst, Syracuse, NY, her cousin Vivien Hooks and her husband Gerald, Norwich, NY, her nieces Gretchen Judge, Middletown, NY, Donna Pierce and her husband Frederic, Syracuse, NY, Beth Preminger and her husband Jim, Pacific Palisades, CA, Annie Bornhurst, Los Angels, CA, Kathy Bornhurst, Beverly Hills, CA and many step grandchildren and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 16, 2008 at 10:30 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls and at 11:00 am from the Holy Family Parish Church, Cor. Main & Johns St.s, Little Falls where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato. Interment will take place in St. Marys Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Sunday, June 15, 2008 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Monday morning. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Beverly be considered to the Little Falls Public Library, 706 E. Main St., Little Falls, NY 13365 or to the Holy Family Parish Church, 763 E. Main St., Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
