Obituary of David L. White
ST. JOHNSVILLE - David L. White, 53 of 202 Mill Road, St. Johnsville passed away Thursday, February 5, 2009 at the Bassett Healthcare Center, Cooperstown.
He was born on November 29, 1955 in Ft. Monmouth, NJ the son of John K. and Shirley (Putnam) White of St. Johnsville. He was a graduate of Herkimer High School class of 1973.
Mr. White was a veteran of the US Navy entering the service on February 27, 1974. He served aboard the USS Camden and was honorably discharged on February 4, 1976.
After leaving the service, Mr. White began a course of study in which he received a B.B.S. in Bible and Pastoral Studies from Western Bible College in Morrison, CO, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1981. In 1984 Mr. White received a M.A. in Old Testament/ Hebrew from Western Conservative Baptist Seminary in Portland, OR graduating with honors for Hebrew Language and culture. A Master of Arts in Hebrew and Semitic Studies was received in 2001 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was also a Doctoral candidate at the Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL receiving a Master of Theology in 2005.
Over the years, Mr. White was a lecturer and graduate assistant in
Hebrew grammar at the Western Conservative Baptist Seminary, and also taught Hebrew at the Seattle Bible College. He was a freelance writer and book indexer and was an occasional guest preacher in the Seattle, Washington area. Mr. White enjoyed many excursions to the mountains and lakes wit his family. He was an avid whitewater canoeist and an accomplished mountaineer and instructor. One of his most memorable adventures was having summited Mt. McKinley.
He is survived by his parents John and Shirley, two sons Quincy Adams White and Ryan Geoffrey White, a daughter Rachel Lynn White all of Woodstock, IL, a brother Daniel S. White and his wife Beth, Southfield, MA, a sister Julie Burnett and her husband Mike, West Barnet, VT and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday,
February 14, 2009 at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church, 555 Albany St., Little Falls with the Rev. Christopher Wintermute, Pastor officiating.
Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls.
