Obituary of Lewis G. Dillenback

Lewis G. Dillenback LITTLE FALLS - Lewis G. Dillenback, 84 formerly of the Dillenback Road, Town of Danube where he had resided from 1951 until 1988 when he moved to 760 E. Monroe St., Valley View Courts, Little Falls where he has since resided passed away Friday, February 28, 2003 at Albany Medical Center, Albany, where he had been a patient since February 2, 2003 after being injured in a automobile accident in Little Falls. He was born August 5, 1918 in the town of Danube the son of the late Thomas and Ethel (Barragan) Dillenback. He was educated in the town of Danube Rural Schools and graduated from Little Falls High School Class of 1937. He was united in marriage to the former Shirley J. Smith on June 29, 1940 at the Grace Congregational Church, St. Johnsville with the Rev. Hotchkiss officiating. Mrs. Dillenback predeceased him on September 23, 1999. Mr. Dillenback was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Army. Entering the service on March 23, 1944 in Ft. Dix, NJ. He served with 6th Field Hospital as a surgical technician. He was honorably discharged on May 19, 1946 at Ft Dix, NJ. Mr. Dillenback owned and operated a dairy farm on the Dillenback Road for many years. He was also employed as a New York State licensed milk inspector at the former Queensboro Farms, Products, Inc., Little Falls for 10 years and then for the National Farms Organization (NFO) from 1969-1976 where he served as zone supervisor as well as milk inspector. He was last employed by the Producers Co-op Dolgeville from 1977 until his retirement in 1980. He was also a licensed milk inspector in the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Mr. Dillenback was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of the American Legion Post #31 Little Falls and the NYS Association Milk and Foods Sanitarians. He is survived by 2 daughters Joan Christman and husband Samuel of Nottingham, NH and Andra Senft and husband Kenneth of Little Falls, 7 Grandchildren Gary Christman, Dublin, NH, Steven Christman and his wife Tammy, York, ME, Theresa Framtton and her husband Damon, New Castle, NH, Carol Christman, Key West, FL, Richard Senft, St. Johnsville, David Senft and his wife Deborah, St. Johnsville and Brian Senft and his companion Tamica Mailloux, Little Falls, 9 Great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by one sister Ahlene Maxwell, who died in 1974. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2003 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Wrightson Tongue, Pastor of the United Methodist Church of Herkimer/Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place in the Salisbury Rural Cemetery, Town of Salisbury in the spring. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 5, 2003 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Thursday morning.
