Obituary of Edith M. Ortlieb
TOWN OF MANHEIM - Edith M. Ortlieb, 87 of 5647 State Route 167, Little Falls and since January 5, 2004 a resident of the Van Allen Nursing Home, Little Falls passed away Saturday, December 11, 2004 at that residence.
She was born on April 6, 1917 in Little Falls the son of the late Matthew and Margaret (Burr) Flood. She was a graduate of Little Falls High School.
She was united in marriage to her husband of 50 years August (Steve) Ortlieb on July 2, 1954 in the Town of Manheim.
She was of the Protestant faith. She was a member of the Danube Home Bureau and the Oppenheim Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Ortlieb was employed at onetime by the former Melrose Slipper Co., Little Falls. She later assisted her husband Steve in the operation of the family dairy farm in the town of Manheim.
She is survived by her husband August (Steve), her brother Henry Flood and his wife Bernice, Dolgeville, a brother in law Walter O. Ortlieb, Little Falls, 2 nephews Matthew W. Flood, Brooklyn, NY and Larry D. Ortlieb and his wife Barbara, Little Falls and many other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother Arnold (Bud) Flood, who died on July 29, 2001.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2004 at 7:00 pm from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with Pastor Gertrude Ortlieb of the Inghams Mills Baptist Church officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills in the spring.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 14, 2004 from 5-7 pm and to attend the funeral services to follow.
It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Ortlieb be considered to the Alzheimer's Association, Mohawk Valley Chapter, 4947 Commercial Drive, Yorkville, NY 13495 or the Little Falls Hospital Development Fund, 140 Burwell Street, Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
