Obituary of Harry C. Darling

ST. JOHNSVILLE - Harry C. Darling, 88 of 1569 Baum Road, St. Johnsville and a resident of the St. Johnsville Nursing Home, entered into eternal life Sunday, September 26, 2010 with his loving family at his side. He was born on October 31, 1921 in the town of Danube the son of the late Clifford and Ethel (Dibble) Darling. He was educated in Mohawk Schools. He was united in marriage to the former Marlyn Prevost on September 28, 1940 at the United Methodist Church, Herkimer. He was a member of the Fort Plain Reformed Church, and for many years lay leader and active member of the Methodist church. Harry was a charter member of the Crickside Hunting Club and various other organizations during his lifetime. Harry loved farming and was a dairy farmer for most of his life operating the family farm in Freysbush. Following his retirement from farming he was employed for 10 years by the Town of Caroga Highway Department. He also was employed by the Montgomery County Board of Elections for many years setting up and maintaining the voting machines. Harry had a heart of gold and loved spending time with family and friends, camping, fishing and a good cup of coffee. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Marlyn, and their 4 children, Carol Buhrmaster and her husband Henry, St. Johnsville, Donald A. Darling and his wife Barbara, St. Johnsville , Larry R. Darling, Gloversville, and Beverlee A. Dingman and her husband Bruce, Ft. Plain. He is also survived by his sister Gladys ONeil and her husband George, Little Falls. Harry has 9 Grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Howard M. Darling , Sr. on March 11, 2004 and a sister Betty A. Coffin, August 28, 2005. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 11:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Nancy E. Ryan, Pastor of the Fort Plain Reformed Church officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 10 - 11 am and to attend the services to follow.
