Obituary of Helen E. (Murphy) Sefcik
LITTLE FALLS Helen E. (Murphy) Sefcik, 85 a longtime resident of Top Notch Drive, Little Falls passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the Alpine Nursing & Rehab. Center, Little Falls where she had been a resident since January 2012.
She was born on April 22, 1927 in Little Falls the daughter of the late Patrick and Mary (Welch) Murphy. She was a graduate of St. Marys Academy, Little Falls class of 1945.
She was united in marriage to her husband of 28 years Paul M. Sefcik on November 16, 1946 at St. Marys Church, Little Falls. Mr. Sefcik predeceased her on April 15, 1974.
Mrs. Sefcik was a member of the Holy Family Parish Church, Little Falls and its Rosarians. She was also Past President of the Little Falls PTA, served as a volunteer at Little Falls Hospital and was active in the S/Sgt. Steve Stefula Post # 4612 Ladies Auxiliary for many years. An avid golfer she was a long time member of the Little Falls Municipal Golf Course and also enjoyed bowling, cross country skiing and playing cards with her many friends.
Mrs. Sefcik was employed as a secretary and agent for the former Mahoney & Mahoney Insurance Agency, Little Falls. Receiving her license to sell both personal and business insurance and real estate.
She is survived by her brothers Thomas Murphy (Dorothy), Little Falls and Bernard Murphy (Helen), Scotia, NY, her grandchildren Christine Pellenz, Belvedere, Ill., Paul Sefcik, Canonsburg, PA, Jason Sefcik (Rene), Pickerton, OH and Thomas Sefcik, Washington, PA and three great grandchildren Christopher, Nathan and Anna Sefcik, her daughter in law Jane Sefcik, Washington, PA, her son in law Robert Pellenz, Chittenango, NY and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Alan Paul Sefcik on September 8, 1994 an her daughter Joyce C. Pellenz on March 5, 2008, her brothers Francis, James and Donald Murphy and sisters Margaret McNamara, Mary Sienkiewicz and Agnes Mucica.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 11:00 am from the Holy Family Parish Church, Cor. Main & Jon St.s, Little Falls where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Lawless. Interment will take place in St. Marys Cemetery, Town of Herkimer.
In keeping with Mrs. Sefciks wishes there are no calling hours.
Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls.
