Howard M. Darling, Sr.
SALISBURY - Howard M. Darling, Sr. 80 of the Emmonsburg Road, Salisbury passed away Thursday, March 11, 2004 at Valley Health Services, Herkimer where he had been a resident since February 26, 2004.
He was born on August 21, 1923 in the Town of Little Falls the son of the late Clifford and Ethel (Dibble) Darling. He was educated in Little Falls Rural Schools.
He was at onetime married to the former Virginia P. Rice and later to the former Tina Mosher Shaut.
He was of the Methodist Faith. He was a member of the Dolgeville Rod & Gun Club and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Darling owned and operated a dairy farm on the Fords Bush Rd. in the Town of Danube for many years. After leaving the farm he began his own logging business which he operated until his retirement in 1987.
A beloved father, brother and grandfather he is survived by his 6 sons Howard M. Darling, Jr., Arthur Darling and his wife Karen, David Darling and his wife Betty and Robert Darling and his wife Harlene all of Salisbury, Terry Darling and Justin Darling both of Dolgeville, his brother Harry Darling and his wife Marlyn, St. Johnsville, 2 sisters Gladys O'Neil and her husband George and Betty Coffin and her husband Jack both of Little Falls, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2004 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with Pastor Gertrude Ortlieb of the Inghams Mills Baptist Church officiating. Interment will take place in Salisbury Rural Cemetery, Town of Salisbury later in the spring.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Friday, March 12, 2004 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Saturday morning.
