Obituary of Walter Kubica

Walter Kubica LITTLE FALLS - Walter Kubica, 87 formerly of 203 Snells Bush Rd, Little Falls and more recent of 550 E. John St. (Rockton Plaza), Little Falls passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica, where he had been a patient since March 19, 2006. He was born on August 18,1918 in Little Falls the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Pudelka) Kubica. He was a graduate of New York City public schools where he and family had moved when he was 10. Following his graduation he returned to Little Falls where he has since resided. He was united in marriage to his wife of 58 years the former Katherine Linzenbold on November 24, 1942 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Falls. Mrs. Kubica predeceased him on August 15, 2000. Mr. Kubica was a proud veteran of World War II serving with the US Army. Entering the service on June 26, 1942 in Utica. He served with the 871st Field Artillery Battalion were he was the cook for his unit. Seeing action in Central Europe, Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland. He was honorably discharged on November 10, 1945 at Ft. Dix, NJ. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Falls. As well as a Life member of the American Legion Post # 31, Little Falls and the S/Sgt. Steve Stefula Post # 4612, V.F.W., Little Falls. His love of cooking began in the military and continued through his life as his favorite passion when he opened Walt's Grill on John Street in Little Falls in 1954, where he became well known throughout the Mohawk Valley for his Mexican Hot's and Chili. He later relocated the business to W. Main St., Little Falls where it remained until his retirement in 1990. Prior to the opening of his business he was also employed as a machinist by Remington Arms Co., Ilion. He is survived by his son Todd Kubica and his wife Susan, Little Falls, his daughter Ghislaine Stewart and her husband Fitzroy, Endwell, NY, 4 grandchildren Andrew Kubica, Denver, CO, Leslie, Hannah and Emma Kubica all of Little Falls, 2 sisters in law Clara Seifried, Florida and June Walansky, Stuttgart, Germany and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother John E. (Bitsy) Kubica, and by 2 sisters Elizabeth Kubica and Susan Majtan. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at 11:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Carl Evans, Pastor of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place in Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Little Falls later in the spring. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Saturday, March 25, 2006 from 10-11 am and to attend the funeral services to follow. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Kubica be considered to the Disabled America Veterans Memorial Program, P.O. Box 1430,1 Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. V. Sharma for his care and compassion shown to Mr. Kubica over the past years. The members of the American Legion Post # 31, Little Falls will call in a body at the funeral home on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at 10:30 am to pay their respects to Mr. Kubica.
