Obituary of Joan M. Leon

LITTLE FALLS - Joan M. Leon, 72 of 50 Glen Ave., Little Falls passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at Valley Health Services, Herkimer. She was born on March 12, 1934 in Herkimer the daughter of the late Fred G. and Florence (Avery) Moshier. She was educated in Mohawk Central Schools. She was united in marriage to her husband of 45 years Richard L. Leon on September 27, 1958 in Inghams Mills, NY. Mr. Leon predeceased her on December 21, 2003. Mrs. Leon was employed in various manufacturing companies in the Little Falls area. She was a devoted mother and grandmother always putting others needs before hers. Her family fondly remembers the joy she took her decorating her home for every occasion. She is survived by 3 daughters Kim Cheney and her husband Gerard, Oppenheim, Bonnie Klock and her husband William, Little Falls and Carol Leon, Little Falls, 3 sisters Carol Carter, Joyce Laventure and Barbara Murray all of Little Falls, 3 grandchildren Christina Koons and her husband William, Jason Allen and Sonja Klock, a great grandson Zachary Koons and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2006 at 9:30 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Anthony Ligato, Pastor of the Holy Family Parish of Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Friday, September 22, 2006 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Saturday morning. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Leon be considered to the Valley Health Services Palliative Care Unit, 690 W. German St., Ext., Herkimer, NY 13350. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
