Obituary of Madeline R. Tinkler
LITTLE FALLS Madeline R. Tinkler, 92 formerly of State Route 5S, Little Falls (Town of Danube) and since October of 2004 a resident of the St. Johnsville Nursing Home passed away Monday evening September 15, 2008 at that residence.
She was born on February 18, 1916 in Ilion the daughter of the late Vincent and Magdalena (Heintz) Leonard. She was a graduate of Ilion High School and attended the Albany School of Nursing.
She was united in marriage to her husband of 47 years Reed E. Tinkler on February 5, 1935 at the United Methodist Church parsonage, Canajoharie. Mr. Tinkler predeceased her on August 31, 1982.
She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, Little Falls as well a member of the former Nowadaga Grange # 1298, Newville, Danube Home Bureau and the Three Links Rebekah Lodge # 235, IOOF, Little Falls. She enjoyed knitting and cross-stitching projects as well as tending to her flower gardens around her home.
Mrs. Tinkler along with her husband Reed owned and operated the family dairy farm in the Town of Danube for many years.
She is survived by her 2 sons Reed R. Tinkler and his wife Rosemarie, Clinton and Daniel W. Tinkler and his wife Patricia, Little Falls, a daughter in law Sandra Tinkler, Schuyler, a sister in law Dorothy Leonard, New Jersey, 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Robert S. Tinkler on August 21, 1980, a brother Richard Leonard, a twin sister Marian Landers and sister Adele Leonard.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 19, 2008 at 11:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with Pastor Elizabeth Harter of the Paines Hollow United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday, September 18, 2008 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Friday morning. The family will also be in attendance on Friday morning at 10 am to receive visitors prior to the services.
It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Tinkler be considered to the Indian Castle Church Restoration Fund, c/o Mrs. Linda Weldon, 412 Dillenbeck Rd., Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the entire staff of the St. Johnsville Nursing Home for their kindness, care and compassion shown to Madeline and her family.
