LITTLE FALLS - Marilyn D. Welpe of 131 Loomis Street, Little Falls passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital, New Hartford. She was born in Mohawk the daughter of the late John L. and Loretta (Skinner) Daly. She grew up in Little Falls and was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy, Little Falls and attended the College of St. Rose, Albany. She was united in marriage to her husband of 51 years Robert F. Welpe on September 10, 1955 at St. Mary's Church, Little Falls. She was a member of the Holy Family Parish of Little Falls. In her leisure, Marilyn enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing the piano and spending time with her family at White Lake. Her talents included ceramics, knitting and sewing. At one time, she volunteered as a Girl Scout leader Marilyn was employed by the Little Falls City School District from 1974 until August of 2005. She worked as a Title I Aide and Library Aide in all of the city schools, including the former St. Mary's Academy. Prior to working for the school district she was employed by the J.C. Penney store in Little Falls. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother she is survived by her husband Robert, three sons Timothy Welpe and his wife Mary Evans-Welpe, Potsdam, NY, Thomas Welpe and his wife Monica, Utica and Martin Welpe, Little Falls, a daughter Eileen Welpe, Little Falls, a brother and sister-in-law John (Jack) and Helen Daly, Little Falls, two sisters and brother-in-law Shirley Springer, Ilion and Judith & Donald Ropeter, Palm Bay, FL, four grandchildren Johanna Evans-Welpe, Jacklyn Evans-Welpe, Joely Welpe and Raequon Strickland and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 10:30 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls and at 11:00 am from the Holy Family Parish Church, Cor Main & John St's, Little Falls where a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Friday, January 12, 2007 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Saturday morning. In lieu of flowers it is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Marilyn be considered to the Little Falls High School Scholarship Fund, 15 Petrie St., Little Falls, NY 13365 or to the Holy Family Parish Church, 763 E. Main St., Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Charles Eldredge, Dr. Ira Tisch, Cheryl Pereira and staff at Faxton-St. Luke's Regional Dialysis Center for their wonderful care and compassion to Marilyn during her illness.
