Obituary of Suzanne K. Monahan
LITTLE FALLS - Suzanne K. Monahan, 60 of 1015 Fords Bush road, Little Falls passed away unexpectedly Sunday, January 23, 2005 at Little Falls Hospital after being stricken at home.
She was born on August 10, 1944 in Kingston, NY the daughter of the late John and Roberta (Davis) Konik. She was a graduate of Little Falls High School Class of 1962 and attended Mohawk Valley Community College, Utica for accounting.
She was united in marriage to her husband of 40 years Terry F. Monahan on October 11, 1944 at Christ Lutheran Church, Little Falls by the Rev. Walter Hugo.
She was an excellent violin player receiving many medals of achievement
Mrs. Monahan was employed at onetime as an estimator for the former Allegro Shoe, Corp., Little Falls leaving to raise her family. She was a wonderful homemaker and a great mom and wife. Being the independent and ambitious woman she was, she wanted to go back to work. She had a few different jobs until she began her own business in June of 1989, Rock City Grocery. She worked very hard at her business and had just reached the 15th year milestone this past year. Despite her severe physical problems she was very determined and went to the store everyday to ensure its success. Besides her business she was an avid reader and she enjoyed being with her family. Her two favorite teams were the Buffalo Bills and the Toronto Blue Jays. She was fun loving, full of spunk, strong willed and very good hearted. She loved her family and they loved her so much. She was the center of her family and will be missed immensely.
She is survived by her husband Terry, 2 daughters Lisa Monahan, Little Falls and Cathy Wakefield and her husband John, Ilion, 2 grandchildren Jennifer and John Wakefield, Jr. who brought her so much joy and happiness when life challenged her the most. 5 brothers John Konik and his wife Jeanne, Rochester, William and Robert Konik, Michael Konik, LI, NY and Richard Konik and his wife Ann, LI, NY, 3 sisters Carol McCumber, Little Falls, Mary Reisert and her husband Michael, LI, NY and Barbara Konik, LI, NY, several step brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews and in laws. 2 special pets Schuyler and tabby. She was predeceased by her mother Robert Nocera in 2003.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at 10:00 am from the Christ Lutheran Church, 14 Petrie Street, Little Falls with the Rev. David Blank officiating. Interment will take place in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion in the spring.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 from 5-7 pm and to attend the funeral services Wednesday morning.
It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Monahan be considered to the Christ Lutheran Church, 14 Petrie Street, Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
