Obituary of Reginald H. (Reg) Barnes
SALISBURY CENTER - Reginald H. (Reg) Barnes, 83 of 2531 State Route 29, Dolgeville (Town of Salisbury) passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at his residence with his loving family at his side.
He was born on July 5, 1929 in the Town of Little Falls the son of the late Carl L. and Reva M. (Darling) Barnes. He was educated in both Salisbury and Dolgeville schools.
He was united in marriage to his wife of 56 years the former Lillian Holl on November 3, 1956 at the Inghams Mills Baptist Church.
Mr. Barnes was a veteran of the US Army. Entering the service on January 23, 1947 in New York City. He was honorably discharged as a Private First Class on Jun 25, 1948 at Ft. Dix, NJ.
He was a 40 year member of the Dolgeville Masonic Lodge # 796 F&AM and the 35 year member of the Ziyara Temple of the Shrine AAONMS, Utica, the Salisbury Vol. Fire Dept. and the Salisbury Vol. Fire Dept. Benevolent Assn. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed playing cards and competing in anything. He was the family reunion auctioneer and an avid Yankees fan. But he mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Barnes was employed as a construction foreman for the former Lane Construction Co., for many years.. He was last employed in that same capacity for the Collins Construction Co. Albany.
He is survived by his wife Lillian, his sons Timothy A Barnes and his wife Melissa, Little Falls and Gary B. Barnes and his wife Shannon, Salisbury, his sister Marilyn Juba and Paul Louis, Middleville, his sister in law Patricia Barnes, Salisbury Center, 9 grandchildren Timothy A. Barnes, Jr., Melissa A. Barnes, Christopher Barnes, Stephanie Barnes-Sanchez, Nathan Steele, Gage Rice, Chelsea Barnes, Skyler Taylor and Chania Barnes, 9 great grandchildren Tyler Barnes, Sophia Barnes, Jayden Sanchez, Willfredo Sanchez, Jullian Sanchez, Maria Barnes, Gage Turner, Athena Turner and Alexis Turner, Special nephews Ronald Barnes and Dolly, Leland Barnes, Jr. and Jan, Randy Barnes and Kim and Jerry Barnes, a special niece Eleanor Clements and many other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Leland Barnes, Sr., in 1997 and Paul C. Barnes, Sr. in 2010 a by his sister Madelyn J. Lawrence in 2012.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 12:00 pm from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Robert Brent, Pastor of the Full Gospel Assembly of God Church, Salisbury Center officiating. Interment will take place in Salisbury Rural Cemetery, Town of Salisbury where Military Honors will be accorded.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Saturday, May 11, 2013 from 10:00 am 12:00 pm and to attend the funeral services to follow.
