Obituary of Vivian L. Darling
LITTLE FALLS - Vivian L. Darling, 86 formerly of 703 Bronner Road, Little Falls passed away Thursday, May 20, 2004 at Valley Health Services, Herkimer.
She was born on July 3, 1917 in the Town of Danube the daughter of the late Walter J. and Grace M. (Hotaling) Hollister. She was a educated at Little Falls High School and was a graduate of the Utica School of Practical Nursing, Class of 1957.
She was united in marriage to her husband of 64 years Leland H. Darling on December 19, 1936 at the Salisbury United Methodist Church Parsonage by the Rev. S.F. Walker. Mr. Darling predeceased her on October 30, 2000.
Mrs. Darling along with being a homemaker was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Little Falls Hospital from 1958 until her retirement in 1972.
She was a avid collector of antiques and had an antiques shop at their home. She was the founder and president of the Mohawk Valley Antiques Association and was previously a member of the Nowadaga Grange and the Manheim Home Bureau.
During Mr. & Mrs. Darling's retirement they traveled the antique car circuit for many years attending car shows in the Northeast and in Florida where they resided for many winters.
She is survived by her daughter Maureen Darling, Utica, her son Barry L. Darling and his wife Patricia Bonfe, Tully, 3 grandchildren M. Lucy Pavalock and Franz W. Pavalock both of Williamstown, Mass. and Jesse Darling, Tully. She was predeceased by her daughter Janet D. Ziroli, who died on March 17, 2003 and by 4 sisters Vera Austin, who died on February 29, 1980, Armeta A. Keniry, who died on December 30, 1991, Grace Cagwin, who died on June 2, 1997 and Evelyn Cagwin, who died on October 28, 2000.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday May 26, 2004 at 7:00 pm from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. Interment will take place in Salisbury Rural Cemetery, Town of Salisbury.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 26, 2004 from 6-7 pm and to attend the funeral services to follow.
