Obituary of Lonney H. Christensen

STRATFORD – Lonney H. Christensen, 70 of Gleason Road, Dolgeville (Town of Stratford) passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown. He was born on July 20, 1943 in Patterson, NJ the son of the late Ernest and Dorothy (Vreeland) Christensen. He was a graduate of Haledon, NJ High School. He was united in marriage to the former Diane Herman on January 11, 1964 at the Dutch reformed Church, Pompton, NJ. Mrs. Christensen predeceased him on November 22, 2008. Mr. Christensen was a general contractor operating “LonChris” Contracting both in New Jersey and here in New York after he and Diane relocated to the Stratford area in 1981. He was also the operator of a Christmas tree farm on their property in Stratford for many years and enjoyed tending too and selling trees and making wreaths for his many customers and friends. He is survived by his brothers; Edward Christensen and his wife April, Cheyenne, WY and John Christensen and his wife Robin, Virginia, his sister; Dorothyann Basse, Cheyenne, WY; nephews; Evan Basse, Towanda, PA, Jeddie MacMillan, Cheyenne, WY, Alonzo Christensen, Cheyenne, WY, Jared Christensen, Nevada, Jason Christensen, Virginia, Ernest Christensen, New Jersey and his niece Kim Christensen, Florida, and his caretaker; Matt Mosher, Dolgeville. He was predeceased by a brother Ernest Christensen and by a nephew Dana Basse. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY with the Rev. Lynn Lockwood, Pastor of the Stratford Methodist Church officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday from 9 – 10 am and to attend the services to follow. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Christensen be considered to the Ayers Memorial Animal Shelter, 133 Hilltop Road, Sprakers, NY 12166. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
