Obituary of Elma R Sodergren

LITTLE FALLS-Elma R. Sodergren, 92, formerly of 243 Burwell St, Little Falls, and since 2008 residing at 11 Apple Grove, New Hartford, passed away Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Katherine Luther Home, Clinton, where she had been a resident since April 1, 2013. She was born on February 26, 1921, in Little Falls, the daughter of the late Morris and Mary Rich (Balbo). She was a graduate of Little Falls High School. She was united in marriage to her husband of 57 years the late Arvid L. Sodergren on February 14, 1952 at St. Joseph’s Church, Little Falls. Mr. Sodergren predeceased her on August 11, 2009. Mrs. Sodergren was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Parish, Little Falls and was a past member of the Little Falls Lady Elk’s. Mrs. Sodergren for many years along with her husband Arvid owned and operated Sodergren’s Jewelry Store and later The Hut Sub Shop, both in Little Falls. She is survived by her daughter Gail and her husband Allan Erb, New Hartford and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother Morris Rich, three sisters Lucy Sadak, Inez Bove and Catherine Rich. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 11:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY with the Rev. Dr. Steven A. Scarcia, Rector of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. There are no calling hours.
