Obituary of Helen C Michael

LITTLE FALLS – Helen C. Michael, 96 formerly of 25 Furnace Street, Little Falls and since January of 2008 a resident of Claxton Manor, Herkimer passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Folts Home, Herkimer. She was born on January 12, 1918 in Little Falls, NY the daughter of the late Floyd G. and Ellen A. (Kelly) Collis. She was educated at St. Mary’s Academy, Little Falls. On June 15, 1946 she was united in marriage to her husband Joseph V. Michael in St. Mary’s Church, Little Falls. Mr. Michael predeceased her on April 26, 1967. Mrs. Michael was a member of the Holy Family Parish Church, Little Falls as well as a member of the church Rosarians, she served as a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the church choir. She was a member of the American Legion Post # 31, Little Falls Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a Girl Scout Leader, a school crossing guard and served at onetime as a Police Matron for the Little Falls Police Dept. Mrs. Michael was employed by the former National Automotive Fibers Co., and the former Allegro Shoe Corp. both of Little Falls. She was last employed in the assembly department of the former H.P. Snyder Mfg. Co, Little Falls retiring in 1971. She is survived by her daughter and son in law; Mary and Thomas Wastowicz, Herkimer, a granddaughter, six grandsons, eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Helen T. Sequin on July 26, 1999 and by her brother Floyd P. Collis on November 18, 1989. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY on Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 2-3 pm a prayer service will follow with Deacon Joseph DeLorenzo officiating. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer later in the spring. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Pastor Kathy and the staff of Folts Center who gave Mrs. Michael good care and to Father Healy of the Holy Family Parish for his prayers and kindness.
