Obituary of John R. Adamko
SALISBURY CENTER - John R. Adamko, 97 formerly of Salisbury Center passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion.
He was born on November 25, 1916 in McKees Rock, PA the son of the late George and Pauline (DeVost) Adamko. He was educated in Emmonsburg, NY rural schools.
He was united in marriage to his wife of 60 years the former Edna Mae Youker on October 7, 1939 at the Manheim Lutheran (Yellow Church), Town of Manheim. Mrs. Adamko predeceased him on February 4, 2000.
Mr. Adamko was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Army. Entering the service on March 31, 1943. He served with Battery B, 309th Field Artillery Battalion in France, Central Europe and the Rhineland. He was honorably discharged on February 15, 1946 as a Private First Class.
He was employed for over 30 years by the Adirondack Bat Co., Dolgeville as a Machine Operator, retiring in August of 1981.
He is survived by his brother; Albert Adamko, Herkimer, his sisters; Mary Bronson and her husband Cecil, Little Falls, Ann Czerniawski, Connecticut, Helen Urich, Little Falls and Rose Hubiak, Herkimer and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother; Carl Adamko in 1993 and Peter and Michael Adamko both in 2010.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY with the Rev. Joseph Famulare, Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place in Mt. View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 9-10 am and to attend the funeral services to follow.
