Obituary of Mary S Albrecht
LITTLE FALLS - Mary S. Albrecht, 62, of State Route 5S, Little Falls, NY passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Alpine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Little Falls following a brief illness.
She was born on April 22, 1956 in Little Falls, the daughter of Frank C. and Eleanor S. (Smith) Albrecht of Little Falls.
She was a graduate of Little Falls High School Class of 1974 and attended SUNY Cortland.
Mary was a veteran of the US Navy. Entering the service on January 21, 1977. She served with the Chief of Naval Personnel Center, Washington, DC. She was honorably discharged on January 20, 1981.
She was an avid sports enthusiast playing softball, basketball, and bowling in her younger years. She enjoyed bowling and playing golf in various adult leagues and had served as Chairperson of the Tuesday Morning Ladies Golf League at Little Falls Golf Course. She was also a fan of the Washington Redskins, having lived in the area for many years. Mary will be remembered fondly for her generous and thoughtful gifts of freshly baked cookies and her special sense of humor. Mary also enjoyed the company of her feline companions.
Following her discharge from the service, Mary remained in the Washington, DC area where she was employed for over 20 years by the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, Freddie Mac, in Reston, VA. Following her retirement, she returned home to Little Falls in 2005 where she has since resided. For many years, Mary was employed at the Iroquois service area of the NYS Thruway and by the Herkimer County Board of Elections servicing voting machines.
She is survived by her parents Frank and Eleanor Albrecht, Little Falls, her brother Jerry Albrecht and his wife Deborah, Marlton, NJ, her niece Lauren Albrecht and nephew Matthew Albrecht, her aunt Anne Reynolds, Little Falls and many cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 1-3 pm . Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, NY where Military Honors will be accorded in the spring of 2019.
It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mary be considered to the “Activities Program” at the Alpine Nursing Center, 755 E. Monroe St., Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
