Ronald K. Maidens
Mr. Ronald K. Maidens, 78, of Main Street, Jordanville, New York passed away Sunday, May 31, 2020 at Bassett Healthcare of Cooperstown, surrounded by his loving family, following a short illness. Born on July 24, 1941 in Beach Bottom, West Virginia, he was the youngest child of James Maidens, Sr. and Barbara Blouir Maidens. He was a graduate of Moundsville High School, Class of 1959. Ronald was born a dairy farmer, and continued this way most of his life with his brother Etsel until his retirement from that in 2005. He enjoyed working the land, and being with his family so much, that it lead to him farming again this time with a herd of registered Black Angus cattle. Many people will remember his motto “Black cows, green grass, and blue skies.” Ronald spent a good part of his life in West Virginia, until moving to New York in 1992. While living in West Virginia he and his family attended the Ash Ave Church of God. He reaped what he had sowed with his family, teaching them hard work, and love for family and friends. He liked traveling, seeing other people’s farms, and watching any baseball or football game, but more than anything he enjoyed being a great father and a great grandfather. In 1968-69 Ronald won the outstanding young farmers award in West Virginia. Ronald was also active in DHIA, Northern Panhandle Holstein Club, Director of West Virginia State Holstein Association, and President of Central New York Beef Producers. In his younger years Ronald, also coached his boys in Little League Baseball. On November 29, 1963 at the Ash Ave Church of God, Ronald married Sandra “Kay” Holsey. His parents predeceased him, as well as a sister Laura Chitwood, and a brother James Maidens, Jr. Mr. Maidens is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kay Maidens; daughters Camie (Allan) Bloom, Ronette (George) Heath and Stacey(Aaron) Rasbach; sons, Ken (Hollie) Maidens, Paul (Julie) Maidens, John Maidens, Matthew (Anne) Maidens; brother Etsel Maidens; sister, Maybelle Brogdon; 22 Grandchildren, Ashley, Katie, Justin, Garrett, Samantha, Chrissy, Jazmine, Cassie, Grace, Marshall, Naomi, Kaylin, Gage, Grayson, Abigal, Jenna, Kristie, Beth, Alicia, Lauren, Justin B. and Jason; 15 Great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
