Obituary of Frederick M. Colony

Frederick M. Colony, 94, Church Street, Little Falls, NY won his last battle on June 18, 2021, at the Veterans Hospital in Syracuse, NY with his children by his side. He was born on October 4, 1926 in Dolgeville, NY the youngest son of William H. Colony, Sr. and Helena (Auger) Colony. Fred graduated from Dolgeville High School, veterans class 1946 and then attended college in Miami Florida. He enlisted into the Marine Corp in 1943 and again in 1951, was a two time Purple Heart with gold stars recipient as well as various ribbons and medals for wounds received in Tinan islands, July 1944 and Iwo Jima (5th wave) February 1945. Fred always started his day with a cup of coffee, a pen and pad, and his to-do list that never seemed to grow any shorter. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and friends, and watching the horses. He was a gifted contractor, (renovating and refurbishing multiple homes of his own), and a mechanic. He held many jobs including the chief of police for Dolgeville, NY, factory worker, and security guard for General Electric aerospace division, Utica, NY, where he retired from. On October 6, 1956 he married the former Elizabeth (Betty) Krasko at St. Joseph's Church in Dolgeville, NY and from this union they shared four children. Fred is predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth; his parents, William H. Colony, three brothers, Melvin, William Jr., Harold Colony and his twin sisters who died shortly after birth. He is survived by his four children, daughters; Kathleen and husband, Marlin Lyndaker, Patricia Colony, Sandra and husband, Philip Campione, and son, Michael and wife Bonnie Colony; four grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband, David Stoltzfus, Benjamin and wife, Kasi Lyndaker, Morgan and Katelyn Springer, and three great-grandchildren, Lilyan and Paxtin Lyndaker and Wyatt Stoltzfus; Several nieces, nephews and cousins. Arrangements are entrusted to Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY 13365. Burial will take place privately and at the convivence of the family at Gerald B. Solomon Cemetery, Saratoga, NY. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in memory might please consider organizations who directly assist his fellow veterans and soldiers.
