David and I became friends later in life. He had a kind heart, gentle spirit, could hold his own in conversation, and had a great sense of humor. I will never forget the time I saw him at Stewart’s in LF one Christmas morning many years ago. I asked if Santa had been good to him. He replied, with a twinkle in his eye, “Santa’s on my shit list!” He was one of a kind ❤️.
