Obituary of Carolyn J. Brown
Mrs. Carolyn Jane Youker Brown went home into the loving presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on the morning of December 31, 2022.
Carolyn was born on February 27, 1943 at home in Norway, New York, daughter of the late William H., Sr. and Orilla M. (Remonda) Youker. She was educated at West Canada Valley Central School.
Her marriage to Arnold F. Brown took place at the family home on Barto Hill, Fairfield, NY July 15, 1962. They celebrated 58 years of marriage.
Carolyn was employed at Allegro Shoe Corporation, Little Falls, New York before becoming a stay at home mom to her five wonderful children, who had been loaned to her by God. In later years she was blessed with 28 grandchildren, 35 great - grandchildren, & 10 great great grandchildren who brought sunshine and love to her life and provided her an opportunity to minister and show Gods' loving kindness. After the children were grown, she worked from home doing Child Care and was an Election Board Inspector for 22 years.
Carolyn became a volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society and Meals on Wheels and also helped serve the meals at the Dolgeville meal site. Many in the Dolgeville, Salisbury Center area were able to get to doctor appointments, do grocery shopping etc. as Carolyn offered them rides to and from. Family members also received many rides to fun events because she was willing to drive when they were unable to.
In the 1970's she began volunteering at the Dolgeville Food Pantry for a few years before leaving for personal reasons. She returned in 2006 until June 2012, retiring due to ill health. She loved being able to minister to others and thanked God for the privilege of being there to help; God gave her the strength to volunteer in 2014 at the Dolgeville Food Pantry.
Carolyn was diagnosed with cancer in 2012 and underwent several weeks of radiation. At one point she wanted to give up but through prayer felt God wanted her to keep on and went on to become a cancer survivor. Even during this difficult health issue, she still ministered to others by God's grace.
Drawing strength from her Savior, she was able to go through the times of struggle and disappointments in her lifetime and found times of joy and blessings far outweighing the bad.
Carolyn became a member of Full Gospel Assembly of God, Salisbury Center, New York in 1971. She served by being church treasurer and then becoming the Beginners' Sunday school teacher. In September 1994 she received the Sunday School Teacher of The Year Award for the Central New York Section of the Assemblies of GOD. She was the Daisy Missionette leader for 15 years. Later years would find her taking a turn to minister in song or reading a poem during Sunday morning services.
