Obituary of Katherine A. Herringshaw
Mrs. Katherine A. Herringshaw, 97, of Little Falls, NY, died on January 23, 2023 at Valley Health Services, Herkimer, with her family surrounding her.
She was the daughter of Paul and Katherine Usiak Adamek, both who predeceased her.
Mrs. Herringshaw attended Little Falls High School.
Alongside her husband "Pat" they farmed all their lives, running their farm Friendly Acres, in the town of Danube, her also keeping the books before and after it was turned over to their son Fred.
She enjoyed cheering her grandchildren on during all their sporting events, being a Sunday school teacher and treasurer for the Newville Union Church, PTC officer at Jefferson Elementary School, serving as the president and secretary for many terms, as well as being very active in school activities,she was a charter member of the Salisbury Center Grange, and held membership in the Little Falls Grange, Nowandaga Grange, and the National Grange. She had also served for 25 years as an Election Inspector for 25 years for the Town of Danube.
On July 5, 1942 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Herkimer she married Frederick V. Herringshaw, together they shared 61 years of marriage until his passing on July 7, 2003.
Mrs. Herringshaw was predeceased by two of her sons; James D. and Jay Herringshaw; Grandsons Michael Herringshaw and Dylan Milloux; granddaughter, Tina Marie Herringshaw; great great grandson Isaac Deacon; her two sisters, Mildred O'Neil and Susan Maksymicz; her two brothers Paul and John Adamek; son in law Bruce B. McCully; sister in laws Rose Adamek, Caroline Adamek, and Vera Mosher; Brother in laws, William Herringshaw and Richard Mosher.
Survivors include her son Frederick P. and his wife Marylee of Little Falls, NY; daughter Katherine M. Congdon of Little Falls; daughter in law Linda Herringshaw of Little Falls; son in law Orlyn Congdon of Johnstown; sister in law Martha Herringshaw; grandchildren Tammy and her husband Brian Senft, Frankie and his wife Marylou Herringshaw, Shelley and her husband Mark Smith, Michael and his wife Kim McCully, Missy Peruzzi, James Herringshaw, Jason Herringshaw and his partner Kayleigh Stevens, Jay and his wife Michelle Herringshaw, Courtney and her husband David Hazzard; great grandchildren Erica Milloux,Michael McCully, Ashlynne Hahn (fiance of Dylan Maillux), Shauna and her husband Nate Mowers, Taylor Smith, Holly and her husband Ben Jobe, Matthew and his wife Nadia Herringshaw, Alexander Herringshaw and his fiance Caitlin, Nicolas Herringshaw, Anna Herringshaw, Carlee Sullivan, Jonathan and his wife Meghan Herringshaw, Damien Grant, Alexis Milisci, Caleb Milisci, Jayden, Xander, Hunter Herringshaw, Katie Herringshaw, Destiny Webster, Kayleigh Hazzard and Kylie Hazzard, Hayley Peruzzi, Makenna Peruzzi, Kaitlyn Herringshaw, and Nathan Herringshaw; great great grandchildren Jena Huskic, Bradlee Petersen, Connor George, Mason Mowers, Jordan Willams, Avery Herringshaw, Colton Herringshaw, Max Mailloux; special friends Lani Bladek and Lois Beopple; her beloved cat "nuisance" and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She wanted all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren to remember how much she dearly loved them. And reminisce about how her candy dish was always full, even though all of them always knew right where it was.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all of the nurses and staff at Valley Health Services, especially those working on 2nd floor west for the outstanding care that Mrs. Herringshaw received, as well as the care and support the family received during this time.
The family invites friends and relatives to calling hours for Mrs. Herringshaw from 4:00-7:00 on Thursday January 26, 2023, at Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY 13365. A Funeral service will take place on Friday January 27th, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Rural Park Cemetery, Ingham Mills, NY in the spring.
