Obituary of Jean Lamphere
Mrs. Jean Lamphere, 81, of Salisbury Center, NY, passed away at the Alpine Nursing Home, where she had been a resident following a brief illness.
Jean was born in Syracuse, NY, on April 9, 1943, the daughter of Leonard and Doris Shepard Burdick, who predeceased her in death.
She was educated at Stratford High School and was a lifetime area resident.
Mrs. Lamphere worked with her husband on their dairy farm on Snyder Road while working beside her husband and raising their seven children. Upon retiring from the farm, she worked at the local Moore's Market.
Jean was a former Sailsbury Methodist Church member, now known as the Sailsbury Community Church. She also enjoyed cooking for family gatherings.
On October 1, 1960, at Curtiss Corner Church, she married Glenn S. Lamphere, Sr., and he predeceased her on August 20, 2014.
She was also predeceased by her son, Wayne Lamphere, sister, Mary Darling, and her brother-in-law, Arnold Cohen.
Survivors include her sons, Dennis (Linda) Lamphere, Scott (Cheryl) Lamphere, Lee (Barbara) Lamphere, Glenn Jr., (Jean) Lamphere, Warren (Rose/Peaches) Lamphere, and daughter Jeanne(Stanley/Bub) Hayes; her grandchildren, Carrie and Wayne, whom she raised with her husband following their father's death; her siblings Beverly Cohen, Larry (Carol) Burdick, and Barbara Stoltz; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins a special niece Janice Walrath and her family.
The family invites everyone to a public graveside committal service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, at the Stratford Cemetery.
Arrangments are under the direction of Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY 13365.
The family wants to thank all the Alpine staff for the care and compassion shown to her during her stay at Alpine.
