Obituary of Ann E. Schuyler
Ann E. Schuyler, 92, most recently of Little Falls, NY, formerly of Salisbury, NY, passed away in the early evening of Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at the Alpine Rehab and Nursing Home.
She was born on October 24, 1931, in Little Falls, NY, the only child of the late Wilson and Anna Daniel Eysaman. She graduated from Little Falls High School, Class of 1949, and the Utica School of Commerce.
Ann was a secretary at Burrows Paper Corp in Little Falls for over ten years, director/Librarian at Middleville Free Library for 22 years, and served on their Board of Trustees for 11 years. She held various offices as a Charter Member of the Salisbury Historical Society. As a Salisbury United Methodist Church member, she served many years on the official Board and in various United Methodist Women's offices.
She enjoyed belonging to the Salisbury Camera Club and the 429 Spay-Neuter Assistance Program, both now defunct. She belongs to the Herkimer Co. Historical Society, the Kuyahoora Valley Historical Society, the Palatine Historical Society, and the Salisbury Historical Society.
In 1983, Ann received the Community Citizen Award from the Salisbury Center Grange, and in 1990, was honored by the Salisbury Historical Society with their volunteer recognition award.
As a freelance writer and photographer, her work was published in Mohawk Valley USA, SnoTrac, NY State Conservationist, and Antiques Weekly. She was a correspondent for the Evening Times, Evening Telegram, Leader-Herald, and the former Herkimer Line for many years.
Survivors include her son Nicholas R. Schuyler and his wife Michele, twin grandsons Alexander Neil and Andrew Julius, daughter Lori Ann Schuyler and granddaughter Larissa Ann and her husband Andrew Hammersmith, and great-grandchildren Sophia and Jackson Hammersmith.
On September 5, 1953, at Christ Lutheran Church in Little Falls, she married her husband Neil A. Schuyler; he predeceased her in death on July 23, 1995. They also lost an infant son in 1958.
As per Ann’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. The burial will occur at Rural Park Cemetery, Ingham Mills, NY. Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY 13365, is handling the arrangements.
