Obituary of Linda B. Vincent
Mrs. Linda B. Vincent, 75, most recently of Acacia Village, Utica, NY, formerly of Little Falls, NY, passed away on October 16, 2024, at the Wynn Hospital, Utica, NY.
Mrs. Vincent was born in Tuxedo, NY, on January 6, 1949, the daughter of the late Robert J. and Betty Vrooman Buehler.
In 1966, she graduated from Canton High School; following this, she graduated from St. Lawrence University, class of 1970, with a BA, and Syracuse University in 1973 with her master's.
She started her career at Utica College and later was a counselor at HCCC. She served as the vice president and secretary of Vincent Manufacturing Co., Linda started and ran Designers Furniture Workroom for ten years. In 1996 she rehabilitated the mill at 25 W Mill Street, Little Falls, which had been constructed in 1855. The building now houses two floors of retail and one floor of executive apartments as The Little Falls Antique Center and the Shops at 25 West. Linda was also instrumental in early rehabilitation of the Stone Mill building on S Ann St. in Canal Place.
Linda was very active at her winter home at Sea Oaks in Vero Beach, chairing the Community Center Committee and the Art Stroll. Linda was also proud to have been the commissioner of the NYS Canal Corporation Canal Recreationway Commission in 2011, served on the City of Little Falls and the Harbor Commission in 2011, the Mohawk Valley Heritage Corridor Commissioner, Herkimer Co. Representative, was on the Tourism Committee for the Herkimer County Chamber of Commerce. Linda was a founding member of Canal Place Development Association, Little Falls, and on the Little Falls Tourism Committee.
She also served on several boards, including the Little Falls Library Trustee, serving as past president from 2005-2008, the Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute, Docent and Trustee, the Mid-York Library System as a trustee, the Herkimer Co. Chamber of Commerce, past director, the Herkimer Co. Community College Development Board, past director, the Herkimer County Historical Society, past trustee, Board member of the Little Falls City School Board for seven years.
On June 20th, 1970, at the St. Lawrence Univeristy Chapel, she married Alan N. Vincent.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Alan N. Vincent; son Todd R. and his wife, Cristy Vincent; her sister, Pamela B. and her husband, Dean Martin; and a niece and a nephew.
A Graveside Service will be held for the family at the Fairview Cemetery, Little Falls, NY. A Public celebration of Linda's life will be held on November 9th at the Acacia Village main lodge at 1:00 on November 9th, 2024.
